What can be detected by treadmill stress test?
- 1. Treadmill Stress Test can detect hidden coronary artery (blood vessel of the heart) disease which results in myocardial ischemia.
- 2. Treadmill Stress Test can check if you have an irregular heartbeat to allow you to know whether you are eligible to exercise safely.
- 3. Treadmill Stress Test can let you understand how much athletic ability you have.
Precautions to be taken before treadmill stress test
- 1. On the day of the test, if you feel pain in the chest or have breathing problems or experience pain in the foot, please talk to the staff in charge in advance.
- 2. On the day of the test, if you have taken some medicine, please talk to the staff in charge in advance (Some medicine may interfere with an accurate diagnosis to make).
The process of treadmill stress test
Electrocardiogram and blood pressure will be measured while you are walking on a motorized treadmill. Examining time is according to the state of your movement, but it is approximately 30 minutes. Ladies may wear gown (top) prepared by us.
- 1. ECG electrodes will be affixed on your shoulders, waist and chest.
- 2. Electrocardiogram recording and blood pressure measuring will be done at rest before exercise begins.
- 3. Speed and cant of the treadmill will be up in certain minutes (basically 3 minutes) to increase exercise volume.
- 4. Your recovery and state will be monitored through electrocardiogram and blood pressure after exercise ends.

- When to stop exercise will be judged according to the change on the electrocardiogram, the abnormal value of blood pressure, the exercise goal reached, subjective symptom and so on. However, you do not have to force yourself to continue; please feel free to talk about your concerns to our staff in charge if you do not feel good.
