What can be detected by MRI test without contrast agent?

MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) is a technique that uses a large magnet to create cross-sectional imagines based on hydrogen atom information in our body. MRI enables the doctor to observe and diagnose lesions on internal organs and tissues.

Precautions to be taken before MRI test

Please notify our staff beforehand if you have or have ever had the following cases.

  1. 1. The test probably can not be performed accurately for the people with pacemaker and the people with some sort of metal in the body, so please confirm whether you are the stated one or not.
  2. 2. Please put watch, cash cards, phone cards, cell phone, hearing aid, magnetically-treated belly band and metal in the predefined locker.

The process of MRI test

The day of the test

  1. 1. You may have to change into the hospital gown based on the part that will be examined and the clothes you wear.
  2. 2. The nurse will do the final check before the test.
  3. 3. Our staff will show you the examining room.
  4. 4. The staff in charge will give you specific instructions.
  5. 5. Please lie at the appointed site of the MRI.
    Position: please face down for breast and breast bone sites, and lie on the back for other sites.
  6. 6. Please try not to move during photography.
  7. 7. Please enter the device.
  8. 8. If you feel sick or have an unpleasant sensation, please do not control yourself; instead, gripe the gum ball to give us a signal (The rubber ball will be given to you. It will ring to let us know when you gripe it).
  9. 9. Please note that the test makes huge noisy when it works.
  10. 10. The test will last about 20-30minutes.
  11. 11. In the middle of the test, our staff will introduce the use of contrast agent to you. You will not feel painful while being injected, but please do not hesitate to tell our staff in charge immediately if you feel bad.
    *You have to hold your breath for about 20 seconds per time and repeat several times for breast, belly（except for pelvis）exam.
    *For other site exam，there is no necessary to hold your breath.
    A single test will last about 2 minutes and will be performed several times.
  12. 12. You will be informed when the test is finished.

After the Test

  1. 1. No special restrictions.
  2. 2. If you feel bad after the test, please do not bear and talk to our staff in charge.
