NEW FOR PATIENTS (FROM OCTOBER 2004)
Kameda's International Affairs Department (Kameda Kokusai Kanke Bu) at 0470-99-1102 is available Monday through Friday to field inquiries in English (including requests for appointments) from 8:00am to 4:30pm, excluding the noon hour. Ask for Ms. Harumi Isobe. This is also the office to call if you have made an appointment in our regular outpatient system, and will need Japanese language support. Here are some suggestions to consider when considering getting your healthcare needs met at the Kameda Clinic:
If you need urgent care (emergency), the Kameda Medical Center's Emergency Center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (never closed). Almost all of our emergency medicine physician staff speak English.
For urgent care (not meeting your definition of an emergency), the Kameda Clinic will take walk-in patients, and dependent on the circumstances, the waiting times to be seen can vary. Calling ahead of time either to the appointment system (0470-99-1111 in Japanese), or calling to the International Affairs Department, is strongly recommended, and at that time, requesting language assistance, if needed, can be accomplished. Using the normal appointment system is more efficient and faster than calling International Affairs. Although Kameda can provide language support assistance in English, Chinese and Korean languages, all of the staff providing these services have regular jobs in the medical center and if not requested in advance, might not be available on short notice. Bringing a relative, colleague or friend to provide language support is always encouraged. Email inquiries to intl-affairs at mark kameda.jp is always welcome too. We are avoiding some use of email linkages as an anti-spam technique, so replace the words "at mark" above with @ when typing it into your email.
Should you require admission to the hospital, we can usually provide language support routinely during the day (Monday through Saturday) and have staff that could be called in for urgent circumstances. We have many, many staff that can speak English, and will try our best to accommodate your language needs.

To visit from Tokyo, take the train from the underground Keiyo Line platform to Awa-Kamogawa. The cost is approximately 7,000 yen, round trip, and Awa-Kamogawa is the end of the line. The trip, by express train "Wakashio" takes approximately two hours. It is a pleasant trip, along the ocean for the last hour. From Awa-Kamogawa Station, the Kameda Medical Center is a short cab ride (5 minutes). Ask the driver to take you to "Kameda". Even if he does not speak English, the driver will understand. |

Visiting from Kanagawa Prefecture, and driving by car is relatively easy. It is a good idea to call (extension 3014),and request a driving map, unless your ability to read Japanese is very good. |
